Bjornsdottirs . @bjornsdottirs,

With Thunderbird changing its UI for the worse in recent releases, can somebody recommend to me a graphical user interface email (IMAP and SMTP, preferably also Maildir but as TB doesn't have this, I'll cope without) client similarly capable compared to Thunderbird? I've tried Sylpheed and Claws Mail and while I like both (Sylpheed more so), neither of them can be scrolled by a finger on my tablet without aiming for the scrollbars (Thunderbird somehow manages to get this right), which means they're only suitable on my desktop - also in any case I have to adjust my .qmail because I will no longer have my Thunderbird filters.

KMail is not eligible because I can't run AkonadiServer (it just aborts).

It must also be libre software, run on Unix (so that includes Linux and BSDs, and ideally also illumos; if it's demonstrated to run in X11 on the Mac that would be cool but utterly irrelevant) and not only Linux, be compatible with X11 and Wayland or only X11 (so it can't open the framebuffer and input devices directly, as that would be rude; all email clients you're likely to recommend are compatible with this requirement so don't worry), not have openly endorsed the Don't Theme My App movement nor had a plurality of senior developers do so, and not be planning to move to GTK4 for the foreseeable future.

Am I going to have to write my own in Tcl/Tk and also learn how to use xinput2? :'D
