This is interesting. "Boom vang" translates from Dutch to English as "tree catch." In English, a boom vang is a part on a sailboat that prevents the boom from rising upward and introducing too much belly into the sail.

So I'm not sure which one you mean, but both are enigmatic without context. 😅
